Do I have to pay to use Brainscape? What is Brainscape Pro?

Brainscape's mission is to help as many people as possible to improve their study effectiveness. As such, we make it completely free to create flashcards, share them with your classmates (or students), and study them (on both the website and the mobile app) using our scientifically proven adaptive learning technology.  We’ve recently added a whole slew of advanced editing features for free as well.  

But, like all businesses, we have to make money in order to pay our expensive software engineers and designers, to keep making the product more awesome.

You need a Brainscape Pro account to study flashcards that you find on the Brainscape Market, including both (i) flashcards created by other users (where you didn't receive a personal invitation link), and (ii) flashcards created by other publishers.

You may also hit a Pro paywall for a few advanced editing and studying features, or if  you're looking to keep your class private.  You can see all Pro features and pricing here.

Note that there are NOT different tiers of Pro accounts, e.g. “teacher accounts” or “student accounts”.  The features and functionality provided by an upgrade to Pro are the same for all users.

We offer renewable subscription tiers for various periods of time (e.g. monthly, annually), as well as a one-time Lifetime access purchase.
