Brainscape has built a team of top learning scientists, software engineers, user experience designers, and education industry executives who want to redevelop the way people study for the next millennium.
Our founder & CEO, Andrew Cohen, created the first version of the Brainscape study algorithm in an Excel spreadsheet, while living abroad and learning complex banking concepts in Spanish and French. He was looking for a more efficient way to study, and no other existing tools were working fast enough for him.
Based on his own success with this learning method, Andrew changed his career path and got a Masters in Education Technology at Columbia University, where he built a more interactive prototype and collected decades of cognitive science research into why the Confidence-Based Repetition technique was so effective.
The prototype attracted much attention in the world of education in New York, and several well-known investors decided to fund the project and transform it into a company. Brainscape has since hired many additional key employees in both New York and Silicon Valley, and we are collectively driven by a mission to simplify and accelerate the learning process.
