Over the years, millions of users (and dozens of publishers) have created billions of flashcards on Brainscape. Finding the right ones for you would be overwhelming, were it not for two key tools that can help you navigate.
Search
When you visit the Brainscape Marketplace (e.g. by clicking Find Flashcards on the website or the mobile app), you will see a Search bar at the top of the screen. There, you can search for any Class (e.g. Biology) or Standardized Test (e.g. MCAT) where you are looking for a well-organized flashcard curriculum. On our mobile app you can search Brainscape’s Certified Classes (flashcards created by educators who are experts in prepping learners for exams), or you can explore flashcards created by our amazing users.
Search results are organized based on "quality", as perceived by our indexing algorithms. We look at dozens of factors (e.g. the amount of content, the number of people studying, the credibility of the creator, and the thoughtfulness of the way the flashcards are organized) when determining which Classes show up at the top of Search results.
You can easily "dig into" any Class to see its Decks and Flashcards. If a particular Class doesn't look right for you, you can simply go back to the Search results or perform another Search.
Browse
On the website and app, we also allow users to explore a hierarchical content tree called the Knowledge Genome. This can be used if you want to get a better idea of the types of subjects Brainscape offers, e.g. by digging down the tree from Science → Geology → Rocks, and then exploring all the Classes created by users for each subject.
In the future, we plan to add new ways to filter Search results and better identify Classes that are relevant to you, such as identifying the School, Book, or Grade Level of the flashcards.
Find Friends
We don't yet have a Search feature for the Creators Directory, but if you think that would be extremely helpful to you (and worth Brainscape engineers' time) versus just browsing user names, then please mention it in the comments below, and we'll see what we can do!
Also, make sure you’ve gone out to the App Store, and that you have the latest version of the mobile app. You don’t want to miss the exciting updates!
Still have questions and can't find the answer? Be sure to email our Tech Support Team (support@brainscape.com).
If you'd love to vote for a new Brainscape feature, see what others are requesting, or get a sneak peek at features in our pipeline, please check out Brainscape User Feature Requests Forum! Please choose to Sign in with Brainscape (if you are commenting/requesting a new feature) so any feedback is tied to your account. Or you can even access the tool from our web/mobile menus which won't require you to login separately.
(Hint: to save time, search first to see if your desired feature is already in the list so you can just vote/comment.)
