OVERVIEW
Many of you have been asking for the ability to be able to import flashcard data into all the fields on the flashcard: prompt, body, clarifier, and footnote for both the question and answer side. Now, using our expanded importer technology this is possible on mobile and web!
The import already supports multi-field columns in the import. The default is to look for two columns ("question" & "answer"), but the import also supports the following columns: Prompt, Body, Clarifier, and Footnote.
In order to ensure that this is added into your flashcards, your source document, should have the columns broken down into the below categories (or whichever of these categories is applicable to the content you are importing).
Possible Import Categories:
Q. Prompt
Q. Body
Q. Clarifier
Q. Footnote
A. Body
A. Clarifier
A. Footnote
(Note: case and period are optional, but this is for demo purposes)
See below for an example of how you could do this using the fields you need based on the flashcards you'd like to make. In this example only prompt, question prompt, answer prompt and answer clarifier are needed.
ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES:
- If there are two UNLABELED columns, they are just Q&A by default
- If there are multiple LABELED columns (with those specific labels), then it will import the content to those specified "fields"
- If you want to add numbered or bulleted lists, you can do that when the csv file is created via Google Sheets
-This multi field feature only works by importing/uploading the file as a CSV or Google Sheet.
Remember, when reviewing this in the import preview screen the text won't look right, since the syntax will be showing. This is ok. Do not be temped to "Fix with AI" which may have unintended formatting/content impacts. Give it a try and let us know what you think!
